ESG has recently experienced a real backlash. In 2022 it was rocked by performance challenges, a political anti-ESG campaign and an activist spotlight on pervasive greenwashing practices. Regulators followed suit and announced increased ESG regulation while cracking down on corporate misstated ESG claims. Yet, research shows demand for ESG investments continues to rise. This keynote address will explore how best to navigate ESG conflation, regulation, litigation and demanded substantiation.
