Finance, for example, is about returns. Add “sustainable,” and you’ve turned it into politics. So, as I say to my finance students: if you have a burning desire to do good in the world, become a nurse, a firefighter, or run a rescue shelter. Don’t go into ESG.

ESG has gained traction in recent years, with integration into investment strategies increasing at a rapid pace. This rise has naturally given way to key questions and alternatives as the global economy, stability, and climate are being challenged. How do you embed ESG into market moving landscape in a dynamic way? How has activism emerged as a key ESG and climate strategy? How should we invest in the Race to Zero in a disruptive world?

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) linked assets have been projected to hit $53 trillion AUM by 2025, a third of global asset holdings. Meanwhile, disclosure of ESG factors by corporates have ramped up, with investors increasingly demanding visibility of ESG risks and governments moving ahead with standards-setting regulation.
